Tracey Scarlett, VCAA
Executive Director, VCAA
Tracey Scarlett has started and scaled innovative and technology-based ventures and has built ecosystems and financing programs to support entrepreneurs in growing their businesses. She has held numerous board roles focused in areas of venture financing, innovation, economic development and entrepreneurship. She brings significant governance and operational knowledge of entrepreneurial finance and the innovation ecosystem to her role at VCAA.
Alan Campbell, AEC
Alan is the Director of Industry Development at Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC), a fund of funds with $350 million under management and investments into 25+ venture capital funds. Prior to AEC, Alan co-founded and sold EZ-Robot.
Sara Mohajerani, Bluesky Equities
Sara Mohajerani joined Bluesky Equities in 2017 focussing on financial and operational analysis while supporting the investment committee. She is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities across the portfolio through screening and due diligence processes.
Brenda Slauko, BDC
Brenda has over 26 years of experience at BDC, and currently serves as the National Director in BDC’s Technology Industries group scaling tech companies from seed to Series A with non-dilutive funding.
Ha Nguyen, McRock Capital
Ha is a Vice President of McRock Capital, a venture capital firm focused exclusively on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). She has experience working with tech companies and entrepreneurs in both the venture capital and private equity industries.
Michelle Scarborough
Michelle is a sought-after venture capital investor and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience building, scaling, and investing in high-growth companies across industries and sectors. She has founded numerous companies and investment funds, including two of the world’s first and largest funds investing exclusively in women led enterprises.
She has managed more than $1B in assets over her career and galvanizing more than $2B into Canadian technology companies that are creating new categories and disrupting industries, bringing software, hardware and AI together to have global impact and build a better and more equitable and sustainable future for all. She has led some of Canada’s largest financing rounds into companies like Waabi, alongside Uber, Khosla Ventures and Porsche, as well as notable exits in Beanworks, acquired by Quadient SA, and Bitstew systems, acquired by GE and CVCA Deal of the Year 2017, She is recognized for advancing innovation, fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems and shaping markets.
An ecosystem builder at heart, she has fostered movements to generate positive economic, social and environmental impact and empowers others to do the same. She is an active champion of mindfulness, conscious creation, and mental health, and regularly instructs at retreats worldwide in meditation practices and connection for entrepreneurs. She serves on a number of private boards and not for profit organizations and is currently evaluating opportunities to build her next big thing.

Ben Reeves, Viewpoint Investment Partners
Ben Reeves serves as an Partner, SVP Data Science & Eng at Viewpoint Investment Partners. Ben honed his quantitative and cloud engineering practice in the energy-tech sector working with mission-critical big data SCADA systems. He brings his specialization in merging modern software practices with advancements in AI technologies.
Arden Tse, Yaletown Partners
Arden Tse is the Manager of Accelerate Funds II and III, leading a team that invests in early-stage Alberta-based technology startups. Based in Edmonton, AB, Arden brings over 15 years of private and public sector investment experience.

Doug Schweitzer, Ultimarii
Doug is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ultimarii Ltd. and founding partner at Blue Rock Law LLP. Doug led the development of Alberta’s successful economic Recovery Plan to build on Alberta’s strengths and diversify its economy. In addition to coordinating industry strategies across Government, he was directly responsible for developing provincial strategies for: technology and innovation, aerospace and logistics, manufacturing, film and television, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, and tourism.
